Shabat Shalom, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

Shabbat Shalom means “Peaceful Sabbath”. One of the most important Jewish holidays of the year comes every Friday night. Candles are lit and all work ceases as rest, prayer, reflection and rejoicing in all that G-d has given us.

Etz Chayim, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

Etz Chayim isbased on Proverbs 3:17-18
English translation of the lyrics:
A tree of life to those who hold fast to it,and all who cling to it find happiness.
Its ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all its paths are peace.
Help us and guide us, inspire us and provide us
With the wisdom Your Torah can show.
Cause us to learn, renew and return,
Just as in days of old.

Protective Measures, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

I created this painting fairly recently. It’s is symbolic of the charm Jews and other Middle Easterners use to ward off the “evil eye”.

More about the Evil Eye.

Corn Maiden, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

This one came to me in a vision. Again I don’t feel like I got it quite right but here’s a link about women and symbolism in Native American Folklore. http://members.tripod.com/~warlight/MELDAN.html

Here’s another link to some Zuni Corn Maiden Fetish’s

Earth Holder

Part of a series I’m doing called Compass Guardians.
according to Chinese legend the Black Turtle holds the
Earth on his back. A symbol of longevity and indestructibility.
The Guardian of the North represents the Universe and creation.

I really wasn’t happy with how this one turned out. I thought about it way too much and it is tight and fussy, not at all like my others. I would like to try this one again in a much looser style.

This is the second painting I’ve done for 50 paintings in 50 days and it was also the first painting of the series that’s original is already sold! Only prints are available of this one now.

Phoenix, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.Today I decided to challenge myself to do 50 paintings in 50 days. Phoenix is the first painting I completed for the challenge. How appropriate I thought. Having been burned in it’s own fire the Phoenix arises a new from the ashes. A new beginning in my life in many ways. The wonder and beauty in this painting certainly reflects my outlook on life right now.
