I I recently finished this as a commission for a friend of mine. She was thrilled with it and plans on giving it to her husband as a birthday gift.

Protective Measures, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

I created this painting fairly recently. It’s is symbolic of the charm Jews and other Middle Easterners use to ward off the “evil eye”.

More about the Evil Eye.

Alef-Bet, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

I created this based on a Jewish idea that G-d created the Universe with words…”G-d spoke let there be light” and I remembered a story in the Midrash (famous Jewish scholarly text) about how the letters of the aleph-bet each asked to be the first letter when G-d created the Torah.
I was painting this idea of the Universe being made of Hebrew letters and flowing together in a Milky Way of light and stars. It occurred to me that random Hebrew letters wouldn’t be as interesting. I don’t speak Hebrew at all so I went to my Art Scroll prayer books up and found the appropriate words on the very first page opened. Follow this link http://sixthirteen.org/blog/2002/08/story_of_the_aleph_bet.php and scroll down the web page to read the fable of the Alef-Bet
If you happen to know Hebrew there is a message within the painting that is not too hidden. (I hope I got it right)

Corn Maiden, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

This one came to me in a vision. Again I don’t feel like I got it quite right but here’s a link about women and symbolism in Native American Folklore. http://members.tripod.com/~warlight/MELDAN.html

Tiger Spirit, originally uploaded by Citrinepoint.

White Tiger
huntress
keeper of the West

I finished the Four Chinese Guardians of the Compass when I realized that I had done White Tiger horizontally and the others were all vertical. I had been wanting to re-do Tiger anyhow and so here we are.
I am a bit happier with this one. It is the least abstract of all the paintings but I felt the subject called for it.

Part of a series I’m doing called Compass Guardians.
according to Chinese legend the Black Turtle holds the
